About Me

My photo
Since I got into photography I've loved it, and it's like everything I see now is a picture, I can see it in my head. Capturing nature is wonderful, seeing the little things that usually are not even noticed, like the bark on a tree or the texture of a leaf. Photography really shows how beautiful things are in nature. I love taking portraits to tell stories and capture expressions, emotions and personalities of people. I would love to go to college for photography, and get a degree in business management. Im going to make a great attempt at chasing my dream job: my own photography business. Portraits, like I said, are my favorite subjects to make pictures with, and if I pursued photography I would like to do weddings, baby pictures, senior pictures ect. Well all of these photos were taken by me, therefore it would be illegal to take them, manipulate them ect., so please don't. Thank you.

Ice Designs

My eye caught this neat little patch of thin ice/crystal, stuff! I had to crop it up little, and then take out some of the grass underneath the ice so it wasn't so distracting. I love the designs that the ice made, and it only looks good in B&W!

Leaf Lines

I didn't think much of this picture, but after numerous times of scrolling past it and glancing at it a little, I thought that hey, this could actually be a pretty neat picture...

I put both the color and B&W edits on here, because once again, what do you know, I cannot choose. So I will let you, the viewer, select the one that you like. I like the color image because the color is so strong, and contrasting, and warm, but yet I like the B&W because it makes you focus more on the lines created by the veins in the leaf.

Patterns in Nature

This was a challenging fun assignment for me! I wanted to "think out of the box" so to say, I didn't want it to be something outside in nature, that usually people say on an ordinary day. I noticed that the shutters in the bathroom window were letting awesome, warm, and stripped lines on this plant in our bathroom. The vertical lines of the leaves makes a pattern, as do the horizontal lines of the light being cast over the leaves of the plant.

I find this picture not only a good fit for the assignment, but I also think it is a pretty picture! The warm light, the green color, and the red outline on the leaves, and the unique pattern on the trunk of the tree/plant.

The Farm

Mathis Dairy, my 1/2 place of residence, I take great pride in being a part of. It is a 4 generation farm, and counting hopefully. We have grown and expanded greatly throughout the years and this took a lot of guts, hard work, faith, and hope. I like this picture because it over looks the West side of our farm, and has the warm light of the sunset shining on it, and the blue sky filling the rest of the frame. The colors are really strong in the picture, and that has to be my favorite quality about it.

Weekend Shots

I spent a lot of my free time this weekend making pictures, which I am very happy with myself! All of these are just a few of my favorites from the weekend!

Man-Made lines, and Nature-Made lines

So I saw these dead weeds on the side of this wall, next to the basement window, and I was just going to take a picture of the weeds, like the B&W picture, but then I thought, well I think the window would look pretty neat in there! And this is how they turned out after a little bit of editing! I like the colored one with the window because of all the "man-made" vertical/horizontal lines, and then the "nature-made" vertical/horizontal/diagonal lines, and also, the colors look nice together I think.

Abandoned

I tried to be as creative for this assignment and not do like and abandoned building or something broken and by itself. So, I made this picture. I thought I could express "abandoned" with a lone chicken. I put it out in the yard, all alone, because usually the chickens we have move together in little groups and follow each other, and I thought this picture did a good job of showing that the chicken was "abandoned". It obviously is alone, and also, the chicken does not look very confident in a sense, its feet are spread apart like it is scared and doesn't know what to do, and it's chest is not boastful and stuck out like usual! And no worries, I put the chicken back into the warm coupe ASAP right after I was done!! Also, I wasn't sure about it at first, because the chicken is facing towards the outside of the frame, not looking more towards the middle, and that the picture is tilted. However, I also think that in some way it can add to the "abandoned" feeling, creating a flustered, confused feeling as well!

"Evidence"

So I took this picture for "evidence" assignment a while ago, but wanted to get a better image. But once I edited it I ended up liking it! I put a sepia color tone to it and cropped it and it turned out pretty well! The evidence is obviously the cold and the winter, because of the huge ice build-up on the church. I like the contrast as well between the top and bottom of the picture, and the brightest object in the picture, the ice, kind of breaks that contrast line.

One Lone Weed

This was not an assignment but while I was out shooting for an assignment I took other shots as well. Advanced student assignment is to capture repeating patterns in nature. I was out and could not get into it and find it! So I will continue to search for repeating patterns in nature, but until then I'll try to keep sharing other photos.
In this image I made, I added an edge blur for a "dreamy" look, and made it B&W. I like the blurry background with the unknown black stripe going through it. And the texture and craziness of the weed I centered.
